Description
Yellow Groove Bamboo (Phyllostachys aureosulcata) #5 container size (6-10ft tall plant before pruning) **REDUCED PRICE** These plants go for nearly $100 on the most popular bamboo nursery websites. I will only be offering at these prices on a handful of species to clear up my holding area. Cold hardy to -15 degrees. One of the few larger bamboo species that thrives in climate zones 6 and below. In the gallery you will see a picture of a small grove of Yellow groove near my pond. Behind the grove is my dad’s portable sawmill and several equipment trailers. As you can see the bamboo completely hides it all. This grove was started from 6 number 5 plants 4 years ago. I already have some 20ft tall canes. Yellow Groove is one of the best medium/large cold hardy bamboos available. It forms a dense grove that is perfect for a tall privacy screen or for garden accents. Yellow Groove can grow reach 35’ in height but this number may vary significantly depending on your climate zone, planting location, water, mulch, etc. Yellow Groove was introduced in the 1800’s from Sichuan China. It has a good wood quality forcrafts, becoming very hard when dried. The new canes are dark green with alternating yellow stripes. In the gallery is a closer picture. In this you can see the yellow stripes. They create a unique contrast over the dark green. What you are bidding on is, or is similar to, the ones potted in wheelbarrow picture on the left. In order to ensure a stable, thriving plant all my bamboo has been dug for at least 6months before I offer it for sale. I don’t remove the dirt from the root ball and ship bare root like some growers. Bare root plants are often stunted and slow to establish. You will be getting a full size root ball with the dirt intact… Yes this costs more to ship but is the least stressful delivery method possible. It ensures you will get the best growing results.. If you live in climate zone 6 or lower beware of plants from the Deep South. Even though they say cold- hardy, those plants have never been exposed and hardened to cold weather. My bamboo has seen many single digit temperatures here in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. There is also a picture of yellow groove canes in the snow last year. You can be sure that you are receiving the most cold-hardy plants available SHIPPING: I use custom tall boxes to ship bamboo via UPS ground. We remove the plastic container wrap the whole root mass in wet newspapers seal with stretch wrap and ship immediately. I only ship on Monday or Tuesday so your plants won’t sit in transit over the weekend. Shipping is $20 even though Number 5 plants cost me between 18-25 dollars to ship. We accept PAYPAL, check or money order (items will be shipped after payment is received) If you choose to pay by check or money order.. email me first and I will provide address information, obtain shipping address, etc. via email or give you a call (if you prefer) If you live near Western North Carolina and would like to save on shipping We can arrange a meeting. I live in a very rural area, however, so unless you wanted to purchase several plants it might not be worth it. I have 20 of the Yellow Groove available in various sizes.
