Often seen as a dense, conical form when young, JWP develops into a 25 to 50-foot-tall, graceful, irregularly-shaped tree, with an equal or greater spread, and a broad, flattened canopy. The 1 to 2.5-inch-long needles are stiff and twisted, forming blue/green tufts of foliage at branch tips, and creating an overall fine texture to the tree's silhouette. The brownish-red cones are one to four inches long and persist on the tree for six to seven years. The needles grow in groups of five, so this tree is also known as "five-needle pine", especially the cultivar P. pentaphylla. Family:                Pinaceae. Lighting:              Full sun. Condition:    Very Healthy Tips to Keep Japanese White Pine Bonsai: 1. Environment JWP loves sunlight and fresh air. So please keep it outdoor within sunshine. In summer, it can be moved to a half-shade place, to avoid the extremely strong sunlight or sudden big rain. In winter, you can just put it outside for dormant. You can take it indoor to enjoy for up to 2-3 days each time, but always make sure the tree gets enough sunlight and fresh air before and after taken indoor. 2. Water (1) When to water JWP likes bit dry environment. Please ONLY WATER WHEN NECESSARY. Don't water it too often; ONLY water it when soil becomes dry. It all depends on the weather. For example, on EXTREMELY hot summer day, you may need to water it once a day; while on EXTREMELY cold winter days, you may only need to water it once a week. Dry soil helps the rootball breath, while wet soil feeds the root system. You need to balance both. In hot summer, please only water before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m. (2) How to water Method 1: you can water using a watering pot. Make sure to water it slowly and carefully onto the soil. The key point is WHEN YOU WATER, WATER THE SOIL THOROUGHLY. Please make sure every part of soil absorbs enough water, until you see much water leads from bottom holes of the bonsai pot. Method 2: please put the bonsai pot into water, but let the water line a bit lower than the pot line. Then the soil can slowly absorb water from the bottom holes of the bonsai pot. When the soil on the top surface feels wet, you have done a perfect watering. All in all, don't make the soil too dry or too wet. Don't water it too often, only water when necessary. Once you water, water the soil thoroughly. 3. Fertilizer JWP can be used to un-rich soil, and it doesn't need too much fertilizer. However there are 2 periods to fertilize JWP, April and September. Only use ORGANIC fertilizers. When excessive fertilizer in April, the leaves will grow longer, harming the original design. Fertilizer in September helps JWP grow better in the coming Spring. But alway make sure you don't use excessive fertilizer. 4. Change of pot This bonsai has been changed pot within 1 year. Don't need to change pot in the next 2-3 years. If you need to change pot for any good reason, it is strongly suggested that you do between October and the next Feburary. 5. Very important It is strongly suggested you study the nature of JWP and art of bonsai by yourself, to keep and enjoy the bonsai better. Resources include but not limited to library, internet, and friends. 6. First thing of first When you receive the bonsai, please put it into sunlight (better half-shaded to recover from box) and fresh air immediately. Check if it needs your first water after 6-9 hours. andale andalesell Click Images to Enlarge Payment Options:   PayPal Shipping Options:   Shipping Carrier Domestic International Standard Service $35.00 - Standard International Service - $35.00 I will ship to:   USA and following regions : Canada, Europe, Australia, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom All Rights are Reserved by Mary's SEXY BONSAI Studio.   Payment is expected within 48 hours after auction ends.
