Beni Hime is a very dwarf Japanese Maple in the Acer Palmatum family. It may be 3' x 3' after many years. One of the most sought after varieties it is living proof that good things come in small packages. Bonsai artists love it (along with everyone else). Depending on culture, the leaves may be smaller than a penny or as large as a 50 cent piece. The center lobe is stubbed off shorter than the others. They emerge bright orange red with orange yellow centers. It is a bright dense little tree for most of the spring. The leaves unfold fairly slowly and during this time the small tree looks very like it is covered with sparks or small flames licking at the branches so bright and close together are the leaves. It is red orange most of the spring with green tones creeping into the older leaves later. Has a nice multitoned red and orange fall color. It enjoys morning sun. I recommend this for a container. A Living jewel indeed. Item for auction is a well branched 1year old graft of this cultivar 12" tall. Not grafted for bonsai use. Will need immediate planting with provided instructions.
