Here is a very fine Japanese Maple in the Acer Palmatum family called “Koto maru’. This is an exceptional and very dwarf cultivar for those desiring something small and colorful for that special place in the garden. Perhaps 24” tall in it’s old age. It could snuggle like living jewelry among the stones at a sunny landscape edge. It may lend a shine to a container on the deck or near an entry way. Small enough that it not be placed to close to other garden denizens like fern or hosta as it would be easily over grown. It is tough to describe adequately. The leaves are among the tiniest if not the smallest on any maple. Certainly on any I have seen. The plant pushes tiny new leaves on new growth all season long. These are orange and yellow standing out against the green older growth. Perhaps one gets the same sensation upon viewing it that they would upon seeing a small Christmas tree. It’s Colorful ornaments twinkling against the dark green needles. It is quite a unique find, and one that is hard to find as well. Don’t miss this one.
