These Privet Hedges are from vintage stock that have been growing vigorously since 1930 at an old Southern Estate.  I have included photos of a great repeat bidder's home photos of what you can expect with proper care in 3 years.  These Privets were kept pruned to 3 feet due to their location's building codes. A dense, hardy (Zones 3-10), compact plant which lends itself to formal shaping and designs your unique style (Topiary). Easy to grow with a very fast growth rate. I recommend planting 1 to 1 1/2 feet apart for a Privacy Fence. They grow in full/partial shade or sun. When you trim, it forces them to fill in almost solid with you deciding the widths and heights. The more you trim the thicker and faster they grow. Privet Hedges grow in practically any type of soil including clay, sand, rich, and poor. They are tolerant of winter freezes, ice storms, high winds, droughts, and high temperatures. Fragrant white flower clusters 3-6 inches long which bloom in the early Spring and Summer and are followed by dark purple berries. They are not edible except for birds which devour them. These purple fruits often persist throughout Winter making an easy meal for your birds. These Privet Hedge Plants grow to a height of 12-15 feet or taller. You can keep pruned very low or high or not at all for a natural look.
