This is one of three deciduous conifers, the others being the Larch and Bald Cypress.  Interesting story behind this tree, it was thought to be extinct and known only from fossils.  In the 1941 invasion of China by Japan the tree was discovered growing in a valley, and was described by Japanese scientist. Afte the war cuttings and seeds were distributed throughout the world.  The tree itself is a temperate rain forest tree that likes lots of water.  It grows quickly and as a bonsai needs to be pruned regularly to keep its shape. It is an outdoor bonsai of course and will not tolerate being inside of a house.The forest has 7 trees grouped on the left around a boulder and one large tree on the right seperated by a small gully and a large piece of calcite.  All of the trees were grown from cuttings by myself.  The group of 7 trees has entangled roots and would be very hard to seperate the trees, as they were rooted together as you see them now.  The container is a Chinese Ceramic container, 22" long, 14" wide and 2 deep and is footed. The pictures were taken today 8/27/08. This is a unique piece, there is not another like it anywhere, maybe close but no cigar. Trees are well rooted and established.Shipping will of necessity be expensive since this is not light, and that it a large piece of ceramics. By way of information it weights 31 lb. Place a Bid!
