It is a plant originating in the Carribbean and exported globally. It is used by rural farmers around the world (particularly in India and Africa) as a hedge surrounding crop fields because it does not grow tall and its fruit is tox to animals. Jatropha is a hardy species, resistant to drought and pest. Its seeds contain 28 - 40% oil and Jatropha plants produce more oil than the same amount of soybeans or corn, make it becomes one of the highlight feedstock for the production of Biodiesel. Note: 1.
